Back from Fukushima

Takako and I are back in Tokyo after an event filled weekend in Nishi-Aizu with the family. Leaving Tokyo Friday afternoon is really good as it makes us able to enjoy the whole Saturday plus most of the Sunday before returning to Tokyo again.

This time the weather was ok - but not super - so we stayed home most of the time, except for a quick visit to the family in Tsugawa and another visit to the cows in Namezawa. Mother cow now has a little calf to take care of and it is sooo cute!

I spent part of Saturday afternoon helping Katsushi building nest boxes for his new Rhode Islands hens - 10 in total. It was amazing working with all the professional tools in his work shop. Even though I was only screwing screws and hammering nails in, I felt quite proud that I could make three very good looking nests for the hens. They thanked me by curiously inspecting the new installments, but they are yet to use them for laying eggs.

The kids were as lively and bouncy as ever, and on the Saturday I was asked to display my skills as pitcher, batter etc. in a friendly game of Yakyu with Yuta!

HanamiIt is time for hanami, and this means new photos in the gallery!

Takako’s parents visited us the week before last, and when they were joined by Takako’s sister and the kids, on the Saturday, we made our way up to The Railway Museum in Oomiya

We also had time for a visit to Ueno Zoo where the panda was active for a change.

On the Sunday the weather was perfect again, so we went to Arakawa Yuen where the kids could play and run around. Thor convinced himself that he should try the “very scary” catarpillar rollercoaster with Sho and Ginya. The park also had a “tsuribori” fishing pond and petting animals.

The day ended with a visit to the Pokemon Center in Hamamatsucho where the kids got their bags full of Pokemon goods, and Thor found a sparkling yellow Pikachu-pen for his Nintendo DS.

First photo set in April is from our Hanami in Asukayama park quite close to where we live.

And yesterday we visited the Suitengu shrine and went “maternity shopping” in the Suitengumae district.
